Sample Projects:

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - We provided Internet access to their exhibition booth inside BC Place Stadium because suitable wired solutions were not available. "By aiming an antenna through a closed window a 2 Mbps Internet connection was provided for the duration of a boat show at a very reasonable cost. "CWI's innovative solution enabled us to show the public the vast amount of information available on our websites. We were even able to stream video directly into BC Place over the wireless connection as smoothly as through our 10 Mbps fibrotic connection at the office."

PureEdge Solutions Inc. Victoria BC

PureEdge is the developer of the first legally binding XML replacement for paper documents, and the Assured Commerce Platform, a suite of applications featuring the first 100%-digital customer acquisition solution for the online financial services industry. CWI was contracted to provide a vital network link to their servers during their move to a larger building. "The link proved so fast and economical that it has been used to replace several more expensive T-1 links."

BC - Provincial Learning Network Alexis Creek BC

At this remote site we installed a broadband data link to the School that was undergoing a major reconstruction. We finished the job within days, enabling the entire school to be connected to the Internet through a wireless link to a 2 way community satellite system. When the new school was finished a few months later we moved the the antenna and radio on a weekend so there was no service interruption. "CoastWorks did the work ahead of schedule, they even integrated our old apple Apple Macintosh network to the new PC network".

Industrial Strength Broadband Solutions

Are your employees aging and loosing hair waiting for your Internet connection? We have solutions that can save you time and money!

Our core business is to provide secure, Wide Area Networks and Internet connections using Microwave and Laser technology. We improve the speed and reliability of connectivity and reduce bandwidth costs.

Challenge:
Cost cutting or expansion forces a division of your business to move to a new location. You find a great deal on office space on the edge of town, 3 miles away but there is no broadband service and there is no line of sight between the buildings.
Solution:
Design and Install a wireless bridge to fit budget and bandwidth needs. Use the wireless bridge to extend current network and telephone systems. Sell the system as a package with ongoing support. The customer eliminates recurring charges to the Telco for connecting their offices. Example
 Challenge:
You are expanding to an office two blocks away and want to extend your 100 Mbps network to the new location. Because of deep underground parking lots on all sides your Telco festimates $250,000 to install a 100 Mbps fiber link to the new building. The line lease costs will be $4,500 plus bandwidth charges of about $1,500 per month. Your IT budget for the move is $75,000, the move is scheduled in 9 weeks, you have to move in before the new building is completed.
Solution:
Design and install a free space optical system (laser) to maintain the 100 Mbps network speed. Back up the laser with a redundant microwave radio system to ensure 99.99999% quality of service (QOS) should dense fog or intense rain events block the laser beam. Sell the installed system to the customer so they can avoid ongoing monthly lease and bandwidth charges. Do it all within budget, time and heavy security restrictions. Example
 Challenge:
You need to remotely monitor and control electronic sensors located underwater on the footings of a railroad bridge. There is no way to get enough bandwidth for the application except via 2 way satellite which was considered too expensive. The locations of the equipment are on critical train and roadways where traffic can not be diverted or interrupted. There is a fiber optic telecommunications link available that is used for a video security system which also can not be interrupted.
Solution
Design and install a spread spectrum radio link from the bridge to a location 3 km away where it could be tied into the fiber optic network. Coordinate all permits, rights of way, agency cooperation and safety details in order to minimize all disruptions and complete the installation in three days. Example

CoastWorks Wireless Advantages:
More bandwidth for the buck - from 1 to 622 Mbps up to 20 km our wireless systems and services are about half the cost of copper or fiber optic cable.

Quick deployment - a matter of days or weeks rather than weeks, months or years.
Industry expertise and vendor relationships to provide systems that offer the best value for each application.

Private wireless links enable remote management of network nodes and workstations in other buildings, significantly improving network support and reducing overall costs.

"Wireless Hot Spots", make data available at places where cabling cannot reach, like the outdoor spaces at campuses and tech parks.

Reduced cost-of-ownership - overall installation expenses and life-cycle costs are usually significantly lower than wired solutions.

Scalability - wireless systems can be configured in a variety of topologies to meet the needs of specific applications and installations. Configurations are easily changed and range from point-to-point network bridges to point-to-multipoint infrastructure and Local Area Networks (WLANs) supporting thousands of users roaming over a broad area.

With wireless LANs, outside sales staff and visitors can access shared information without having to find a place to plug in laptops.

Temporary networks can be setup to augment or replace wired networks without the inconvenience of stringing wires.

Productivity, Convenience, Lower Costs and Time Savings are the big advantages wireless solutions have over traditional wired networks.

We pride ourselves in giving prompt friendly service. If we can't do the job because of physical or other restrictions we will tell you right away and advise you of your best alternatives.
